All of the good faculty that they have leave. OCU markets itself as a top ranked music school, but it does not even appear on the radar of most top ranked professionals. In auditioning at graduate schools I found that no one outside of Oklahoma knew about OCU. They are selling a lie at OCU and aside from a few teachers who have left, none of them prepare you for graduate school or careers. The emperor has no clothes. There have been a few famous graduates from OCU, but you could say that about almost any program anywhere. Stay away and don't fall for the lies they tell, especially the dean. Surely we students would have liked to apply our textbook knowledge in the workplace but as OCU were to have it, that is simply not possible.

Their syllabus is terribly outdated and I was very disappointed in the quality of education. I've never seen a professor design a class around a game of treasure hunt and ask students to "reasearch" the price of a cup of coffee from the cafeteria as part of learning about media/advertising research.

To top it all off, the school charges some of the most outrageous semester fees that are almost 3 times more than neighboring Universities in a higher tier.

There are plenty of college choices available in the US and abroad to match every student intellectually and financially. I would suggest that OCU be considered as an option of last resort.

I've not met any other international student that not had a regret about coming to OCU and that in itself speaks volumes.

I can't tell you how much I've learned and...more importantly...I've grown in two years. I transfered from another well known MT school on the East Coast. A place where you are not a person but who they want to turn you into. A palce where individuallity is not approved. The teachers created a cut throat atmosphere and you lived in the fear of the being cut from the program.

That's not Oklahoma City University. It's a place that helps you define what you are and gives you the tools to achieve that. Beacuse the enrollment is not large like other schools (which makes it harder to get in), the teachers know who you are and are able to help you on a one-on-one basis. I can approach any of my teachers and they are willing to meet with me outside class time to work on my situations.

Having researched 30 MT schools before making my choice, I can honestly say that OCU is the best. It's also much less expensive that the other big names. I would highly recommend that you audition early so you can get good scholarship money. I auditioned in Novemeber and got a good scholarship as opposed to my friend who auditioned in March and got half.

With Tony winning alumni, OCU is a school you should look at if you are serious about a musical theater career.

If you are serious and ant to persue a professional career in music, you must check out Oklahoma City university. it has one of the finest faculties and a brand new 30 million dolllar music building. As a musical theater major, you get the experience and training that has enabled such theater stars as Kristen Chenoweth and Kelli O'Hara, plus such opera stars as Leona Mitchell, become leaders in the performance industry. If you are a hrad worker and want to achieve your goals, then you needs a place like OCU. if not, i suggest you try some other second rate colleges like Cincinatti Conservatory of Music whom foster a cut throat atmosphere among students and turn out cookie cutter chorus people, not leading performers.

OCU offers six major musiclalproductions a year (3 musicals and 3 operas), more than most schools. OCU also trains you to be a musicaian..meaning you're not just a singer. You take three yars of music theory, plus intense training in sighsinging, piano, and conducting. Sure, you think you'll never need all those classes, right? Just remember that when you get donw to the final call backs and they expect you to show your musicianship. Kiss that job goodbye.

Oklahoma city University is also cheaper than the other private music schools, plus a huge amount receive music scholarships.

If you're serious about music, you must check out Oklahoma City University. www.youatocu.com
