I came here after attending a college weekend because the people are very friendly. Of course, there are the self-righteous and snooty rich kids, but they can be avoided. I attended a secular high school where my beliefs were constantly under attack, so ORU was a breath of fresh air. I took every opportunity that I could with Summer Missions changing my life and my world-view forever.
ORU had won the ASEE State Senior design championship for several years in a row including my year. I had no problem finding a job at a large fortune 500 company after graduation, and was told later that a strong character and honest interview made up for my lack of experience.
In addition I met my wife at ORU and we are happily married and plan to encourage our children to attend. Hopefully the academics will stay up to par.

Your ability to follow rules is more applauded than your intelligence. But your college experience can be what you make it at ORU. You can be super involved or on the outskirts doing your own thing with your own friends.

But I don't really recommend the art department to anyone who wants to take their art career seriously. There's just not a culture to thrive in for the art community, mostly because anything that is too edgy or controversial has to be ignored or toned down.

Having attended a large public university, I can say that ORU offers equivalent preparation and allows for closer interaction with the faculty. At a large university, an undergrad is just a number. While at ORU, all of the faculty knows your name and cares about you.

Going to ORU is generally very polarizing, but ultimately you yourself determine your success or descension into cynicism. As for the students, professors, and academic material-- those are all amazing. I don't believe you could find that quality elsewhere. After graduating and speaking to other alumni that have attended undergrad elsewhere--I have realized that the coursework at ORU is very rigorous, challenging, and has a higher standard than most other universities. The professors are BRILLIANT and very compassionate. When you graduate, you can rest assured you received a quality education...as long as you get used to being vague when people ask "Where did you attend college?" ("...in oklahoma...in tulsa...at ORU...ok, ok...at Oral Roberts University--but it was a really great school despite its reputation, i promise!") Despite all the RIDICULOUS rules (curfew, no guys in girls dorms EVER, etc), it was really FUN to go to school there and I made ALOT of friends that I will keep forever. The people that choose this college are some of the most fun, kindest, and most integrous people you will ever meet. I only hope that one day they fire all the top people and get real professionals in there--and then CHANGE the NAME and remodel all the buildings! :) Mon, 14 Jan 2008 10:04:04 GMT http://www.studentsreview.com/OK/ORU_comments.html
