There seems to be more violence on campus, at least that is publicized. I've had at least one foreign professor in 3 of the 4 semesters that I've been here. However, the students are not interested in making any new friends. Everyone comes here with their High School friends and sticks to that clique. They all say they want to make new friends, but no one makes the effort. You will find a few people who are pretty nice and friendly, but no one here is interested in having more than a short small-talk conversation with strangers. There is school spirit, but a good amount of people are quite down on KU and say how boring it is. The town itself has quite a few shops and places to eat, even a small little movie theater, but everyone complains about how boring it is. The school runs a few events but they aren't that great. The worst part about it is the weekends. Everybody goes home and it turns into a ghost town!!! There are no great parties and it's really hard to find one. The food is alright, but there is not much of a variety and the buffet in the south dining hall is absolutely horrible. I came to this school with high hopes and it really disappointed me. Overall, KU is a beautiful campus but don't be fooled by it's looks. If you are looking for a suitcase school to come to with a group of friends from back home, then this college should be fine for you. But if you are looking for a real social life and trying to make friends, do NOT come here! They were very personable and intelligent. There was one who was evil, but I don't even remember his name. GET INVOLVED IN THINGS AND YOU WON'T DISLIKE THIS SCHOOL SO MUCH! And didn't you visit the campus prior to coming here? Didn't you know it was "in the middle of nowhere," which it really is not? Regarding administration: NEWS FLASH! That is every where you go. I transfered to be closer to home and it was the worst choice I have ever made. Since i've been here this school has caused me nothing but problems. They make EVERYTHING so complicated. From scheduling class to even parking! Parking tickets are handed out like candy on Halloween. If you don't have 30 credits transfering to this school, be prepared to live the freshman lifestlye all over again. I had 29. I live in Golden Bear and have to park in the parking lot the farthest away from my building. Also in my Golden Bear apartment, the AC is still on...it is the middle of January. My suite mates and I tried to file numerous complaints but nothing has changed. The education is useless. There is always some kind of problem with something. I think the campus spends more of your money on trying to keep the campus looking nice rather than your education. I am a Criminal Justice major and have had only 2 classes in the feild so far. It is a waste of time and a big waste of money. If you don't belong to a frat/sorority or some kind of social group, do no expect to make many friends. The parties are lame and there is not much to do. I cannot wait for this semester to be over so i can go to a college where I will actually learn something! You could not pay me to come back!
