The professors are helpful, the school rewards hard work, and students are barraged with a seemingly endless variety of opportunities. If you're looking for a party school or a place where you can slack off, W&J isn't for you. On the other hand, individuals who genuinely want a good education should consider this college. With the Magellan Project, ample opportunities to study abroad, and Intersession, W&J offers students the chance to experience the world in ways they might never be able to after graduating. Aside from one or two exceptions, I've had nothing but amazing student-teacher relationships. The class sizes are also exceptional; the largest class I?ve been in contained 25 students and the smallest had only 4. Essentially, if you come to W&J and are genuinely interested in learning, expect individual attention and success no matter WHAT your major. If you have goals and the drive to accomplish them, W&J is for you. If you're more concerned about parties or living in an exciting city, look elsewhere. As someone who has had the time of her life here despite the "boring" surroundings, I believe that any motivated and academic-minded individual should find a perfect fit with this college. Most students either (1) sit in there rooms (2) sit in their firends room (3) eat at the overpriced grill (six dollars for 3 small chicken tenders is an average price) or (4) drink. besides that there is nothing on campus (no movies, no social events, NOTHING. On the tour they told me all this stuff that goes on that me or anyone else ive talked to has yet to see (also note that the town of washington is a shithole and there is nothing to do their either). Also, The school expects you to pay for little things (I had a medical condition and doctors note and the school still made me pay $250 to have them put a air conditioner in (which did not work). and on top of that no one ever gets there security deposits back. the school does anything to "nickle and dime" you. The education is good, but it comes at a price (4 years of hell and boredom). The professors, for the most part, were very intelligent and taught applicable material, not strictly theory. I was in a fraternity, but I had plenty of friends who were "independent."
The social scene at the college, while small, gets pretty crazy sometimes. The downtown area of Washington isn't a very fascinating one, but my friends and I always found a good time.
