Besides the fact that the campus is beautiful and 15 minutes away from the beach, the school is terrible. Many professors either don't care or care too much. They either hand you good grades or make you work your ass off.

Bringing a car seems extremely ideal at first, but you will come to realize that parking is TERRIBLE on campus and you WILL get at least one ticket at some point. It also becomes expensive because everything is so far and you will be using a lot of gas.

The students here are ridiculous. Yes there are a LOT of snobby, rich northerners but the southerners aren't the greatest people either. Regardless, majority of the students are stuck up, judgmental, and so rich and WILL make fun of you if you don't drive a brand new, expensive car.

People call this school a party school? The parties here SUCK. The frat parties get busted by cops by midnight so other than that, it's hard to find a good party to go to. And if you're a guy and aren't in a frat or don't play a sport, you will have no life. Mykonos is the only decent club but it's a 20 minute drive.

The cops here are complete assholes. If you smoke weed, plan on getting caught. People snitch left and right and they bring in dogs as well. This school's alcohol policy is beyond ridiculous. There's no chance of drinking and not getting caught eventually.

There's so much more to write but hopefully this saves a lot of people's money and time. Don't be fooled by the location and the pretty campus, trust me. I am not going to talk about partying because I honestly don't party. Put it this way if you come to the the school to party you might want to calculate the waste of money first. If partying is your want in life then go to a tech school, get a certification, and get into your career that way. Through my experience I have observed that some of my fellow classmates have either come to class buzzed or high. I mean really what's the point of spending thousands of dollars just so that you can do that?
Now aside from the rant lets talk about the school. The school is going through a renovation phase right now. They are constantly closing parking lots and on most they are constructing new buildings on top of the old parking area. They do have a somewhat new lot but that is about a 5-10 minute walk away from class buildings, so if you are running a little late you are now running even later. I would have thought that they would want to make the school better for the current people that have dedicated their money and time to give the school business, but they haven't. So perhaps you can figure it out, yes colleges are a business, however the leadership and president of this college are extremely money hungry. They do not care at all about education. Some of the instructors are even too good in their own quality in teaching for the university. Then there are some instructors that should not even be teaching anywhere, and to give a sense of quality control the university gives out surveys so the instructors can be rated. The truth is I don't think I have noticed an instructor changing their ways or even getting fired. Why would the university do this? It's simple actually if they hire bad instructors and hardly have quality, then the students can retake classes and the university can get double the money, which the instructors don't see any benefit. There are many people that go for a four year bachelors program and stay for more than that, I don't know how many have wasted time partying. The school is full of partiers but I do think there are a few that actually want to build their future and are getting ripped off. The school and their public safety team is arrogant and lies as well, if something happens involving one of the students, they lie to themselves saying oh no they go to a coastal that's not possible they go to CCU and our public safety team is too good. There are schools out there that are better and worse so make your decision. Compared to this community college CCU was great. There were plenty of faculty members who were extremely helpful. Many of the students were very friendly and I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet them.

Now, here's the real issue with Coastal, they do not prepare you for the real world. Getting a job is extremely difficult once you graduate, even with experience, because this is not a well known or reputable school. Even graduating with honors, with research experience, extra curricular activities, having an on campus job in a Learning Assistance Center as a tutor for 3 years...this is NOT good enough to get a job in your field. Planning on going to Graduate School? Expect to pay for every dime of it. You won't be earning a fellowship because attending Coastal isn't impressive to Graduate Schools.

**Get involved in a program (while in school) that will give you a guaranteed job after you graduate.**

Also, good luck scheduling your classes to graduate on time! If you can get into the honors program, DO IT. It allows you to schedule your classes earlier than most students and you'll actually be able to get into classes.
