They charge you fees for everything!! They do not offer enough classes to suit the number of students. Good luck getting your schedule to work out. Most classes needed for your degree are offered at the same time on the same day..usually M/W either @2pm or 5:30 pm. How can you be expected to complete a degree when there are not enough course times available! Before attending this Univeristy I chose to disregard the reviews I read, but trust me I wish I would have listened. Most importantly, there are NO opportunities for internships in Corpus Christi, TX. Actually there are NO jobs in this city and there is NOTHING to do! I am from San Antonio and is the City of Corpus is a joke. Most young successful people chose to leave Corpus, so what's left is a huge gap of people, old and snobby or ghetto and poor. Since I live about an hour away, I had to attend this school becuase of finances. This school was a poor excuse for a "university level" campus.

1. I was extremly happy when I graduated high school, so I could be more challenged in college. I was sorely mistaking. The 'work' was merely copying word-for-word the notes off of the projector that the professor had written. When I asked a professor for chemistry about a concept, he didn't know how to explain it to me. This has happened with several professors.

2. There are some good professors, and then there are those who think that you are a waste of their time, and will see you only as a dollar sign. My biology professor avoided me at all costs, and became borderline hostile with me when I did manage to ask him for help.

3. The Supplemental Intructors, or "SI's" (which are merely 3rd or 4th year students), are supposed to help you grasp the material with tutorial sessions. I was a freshman telling them the information for study groups.

4. There are feral cats. They have a program to feed, spay and neuter these cats. I knew abou the cats, but I wonder where they are getting the funds. ( This was a concerning story when it came out on our local news)

5. There is no beach by the school. Period. You must drive to get to the beach. The water is dirty and polluted. I have lived in this area for 12 years, and we have a hard time even being able to eat the fish that are caught here due to pollution.

6. I dropped out of this school and transfered to our local community college. Now that was the best descision I ever made. It was a complete 180.

7. If you can, ask for an itemized list of expenses. My actual class costs are $1500. I pay over $3500. Hmmm.

There are too many other reasons to list. But, if you like getting treated like a 2 yr. old, I would reccomend this school. So, I can say fom experience that this was the biggest and most expensive mistake I have ever made.

There are a couple down points that people have named on here but from my experience most of those have turned out to be good things. The school life is relatively quiet, like there aren't any parties going on and there isn't a whole lot of school spirit but you wont notice unless you are a serious busy body and always have to have something to occupy your time.

The scenery is absolutely beautiful and I spent most of my time at the beach or hanging out around town. There is nothing better then living on the beach, its always a little windy and it gets pleasantly cool at night. Sometimes it storms really bad and sometimes it feels a little hot, but either way you will end up with a tan and wind blown hair at the end of the semester.

The teachers are really nice and laid back and the work is mostly easy or average, occasionally I got something that I really had to work on, just not often which was a nice change from the community college I started out at. If you really like being competitive, overworked, or stressed out..then this is not the place for you.

I met some of the coolest people while going to this school. There are people from all walks of life going to this school, so the diversity is nice. There aren't any real snooty people or loud party goers. Its also really easy to meet people and get involved on campus, there is something for just about every interest..and if there isn't..you can make one.

Overall I wouldn't trade the experiences I had at this school. The atmosphere was rather relaxed and everything was just pretty great and lots of fun. I even lived on campus and the dorms are not half as bad as they are made out to be.

The only real downsides to this school? You'll probably never get your hair straight ever again and there is always going to be sand in your dorm if you frequent the beach.

Now I see why there are all those crazy Aggie jokes out there. I am pre-med and have a 4.0GPA...I scored in the top 1% in the nation on an Anatomy exam. I had offers to Columbia, Drake, Westminster, etc. However they are out of state and can't afford the extra tuition even with a near 20k scholarship. I was hoping for a challenge. I had awesome profs at TCC in Fort Worth. Everyone is asking me why the devil (other words were used) did I move here. I thought: 1) I would be challenged 2) Beach nearby and can enjoy that during down time 3) Would have a great time by getting into a club. However, here comes the reality: 1) It is now three weeks into the semester and I am just now buying the books I need and there is a test next week in some classes, but it is okay because I feel like my IQ has lowered from sitting in class as they act like it is literally high school...no...scratch that, day care school. Homework is infinite amount of practices, some profs wear headphones walking into class (they are all nice at least though), things are multiple choice when I am used to essays and harder tests...so far all 100s and not even studied hardly at all 2) The profs barely can spell easy stuff like aluminum (hate to see them spell acetylcholine or pseudostratified columnar epithilium...seriously a chem prof spelled aluminum "alunim") 3) What is up with the lack of technology and all the darn skateboards...are they stuck in the 80s here... I was told I was from the future. I keep looking for positive outcomes but get shot down. I wanted to have a challenge...yeah right... I went to the tutor session to see if it was just me thinking it was just so easy and the tutor had no idea what they were talking about...he couldn't even tell you what hydronium was without looking at notes. I am miserable and hetting the heck out of dodge. I used to not even say "heck" but people curse left and right here. They literally teach with common language and not scientific terminology like "what makes an element happier, to gain 6 electrons or to have a loss of 2" which is so pathetic. Students are having trouble with basic nomenclature...really? Ughhh. I will get my As this semsester and save like crazy to be a senior transfer somewhere...that is how bad it is. DON'T COME HERE IF YOU WANT A CHALLENGE, BUT IF YOU LIKE SMILEY FACES ON YOUR PAPERS AND CANDY FOR SHOWING UP...then by all means come and be baby sitted. I thought I hated it until I left for Summer, I miss it so much. It is a great campus with a great Kinesiology program. Its the perfect size, and everyone says parking sucks but no spot is farther than 10 minutes away walking. I know people at UT that have to park, then ride a bus to class and it takes them over 30 minutes to get to classes. If you want a decent college where you can make a lot of cool friends come to TAMUCC! Mon, 18 Jul 2011 05:27:57 GMT http://www.studentsreview.com/TX/TAUCC_comments.html
