We benefit from the Texas A&M brand, although the school is separate from the College Station campus. Faculty are friendly, accessible and helpful. Many students commute so there isn't the same comaraderie you'll find at a larger, football school. (There's no football to rally around on Saturdays.) The residence halls and apartments are first rate and there is plenty to do if you look for it. The facilities are good and they are building a new rec center. Corpus is an okay college town, but I chose the school not the town. I looked at several other schools - Texas State, Tech, Angelo State, Baylor, and SF Austin but thought TAMUCC was the best fit. With around 9,000 students it's a good size. TAMUCC may not be as prestigeous as some schools, but I think I'm getting a quality education at a very good price. This college id so boring and small. Your money is going to be waste if your from out of town. People are not that friendly and there is nothing to do even though there is beach and downtown. Everybody must take seminar which is retarded and it is another boring high school without any great parties. Most people will not know where is party is at if you ask peoples. The class is really easy and you don't have to go to class to get educated. You go to class because they take grade on attendance and it 25% of grade. Most kid who go to this school are who have kid, doesn't have money, too young to go out, like small friendly stuff, parents force them to, and kid who want to get marry after college with their boyfriend. I hate this university because it is to small and it just does not feel like your in the UNIVERSITY. It is soooooooo boring. I been here about 4 weeks and I already know where is all the building and parking lot. There is so many chinese who can even speak english and they still get A on a writing paper. Most kid are from corpus christi and really small town of texas that nobody heard from. The university call them self the islander because it is located on island but the real reason is nobody is here and all you going to see is 10 people walking around. This university does not have any tradition, rival, and prank. It is good university for kid who is boring and nice. Do not come here if you want to experince the UNIVERSITY life. All the things I say up there are all true and I am not being haters. It what corpus christi school really are. There is only very few hot guy and girls in this school. Most of them are midget and ugly. Foods are ok and there is few major. This school does not have real engineering school. Most people get confused about engineering technology and thinking that is engineer school but they are totally different degree. No major is even in top 200. This school is only known for island university and nothing else. Most people who go to this school are people who transfer to del mar, who is going to transfer to another school such as ut austin and a&m college station, and losers who stay here because they dont want to be just a number. This school can be a really good christian university if it wanted to. All they have to do is just change the name and put christian in it somewhere. I had image on my head what college life suppose to be but it crush my dream. Thanks to the A&M univeristy of corpus christi. I don't live in a dorm and dorm sucks from outside and I am pretty sure it sucks in inside too. The school work is so easy and teachers are down to earth. doesn't have to worry a thing. Seriously I am not lying about the whole thing. Many of the classes I was advised to take for my major were just filler and it was a pretty scary major as I got closer to graduation because I felt my education did nothing to prepare me for anything of use in the real world as was later proven in my job as a Case Manager at a State funded Outpatient Mental Health facility. Thats the one professional job I got with my psychology degree and I was paid less than almost all of my friends and family without educations past high school. Also you better have some good grades and club affiliations if your a psych major because the degree is not very marketable for the most part and job security really sucks in my experience and the experience of many others I have talked to. I am now in a Registered Nursing program at another (community) college and feel my education there is of a much higher quality which is pretty sad because its a community college however their RN program has always been regarded highly and rumors have spread that TAMU's program has almost lost it's accreditation and has a lower pass rate for their students taking the NCLEX. I know my psych major was pretty lame at but I have heard some real bad things from Biomed Majors about the Biology professors being very unreasonable and having very condescending attitudes. Psych and Sociology majors seem to love the place though and why not when you can pretend and really make yourself believe your getting an education. I have heard good things about the Chemistry department and GIS also looks like one of the good things to come to TAMU for. As far the environment, I have been in CC for a long time and our city can be dangerous if you end up in places you don't belong due to gang and drug activity, but don't take my word for it. Come on down and see for yourself by driving around and watching the nightly news. Also the campus is pretty boring, the food sucks and it can make you pretty sick quite often, and it's a pretty lame environment for any type of networking. Over the past four years of attending I watched the campus grow in size, prestige, and amount of available resources. The technology there is really impressive and 90% of the buildings are new.

One thing that struck me early on while attending is that the professors were overall very fair about testing. Also the majority of them were very open minded, interested in the students, and enjoyed the work they did. The professors in my department (Psychology) were wonderful. Truly were open to discussions, interpretation, and student involvement.

The campus' school spirit isn't too high, and overall it's still a very small campus compared to many. The setting is beautiful - beaches, palm trees, warm weather, and so on. The city public transportation is pretty good if you choose to live off campus, which is easy to do (and WAY cheaper).

The city life is ok. A few popular clubs, but Corpus is a small city, which is a great middle ground for city living. I had a lot of fun! There's also the beach which is REALLY popular- bon fires, beautiful night skies, and lots of beach parties pretty much every weekend if you're into that.

Typical bullpoop that I would rather not waste time on. Save youself.

Another thing to remember here is that housing is severly overpriced both in the apartments and in the residence halls. Try having a roomate and paying $605 a month. For that one apartment, Camdon Miramar is making $1210.

ABout the Mathematics program: Find another major and quickly. Avoid professors with a last name that starts with a G. Very difficult. Over half of the Calculus 1 class dropped and it was not because they were dumb, it was because the professor wanted people to prove history of mathematics that has taken centuries to compile. Calc II better, but avoid professors who do not follow the book. Labs attached to the math classes are a living nighmare. Grades are very nitpicky. There is only one right way to solve a problem here, and in math, there are usually many different ways to solve a problem. Creative thinking is not recognized enough at this university.

ADVICE: Take lots of CLEP exams and avoid the core cirriculum. Some advisors are nice, others are demading. Stand up for yourself and don't get pushed around because they are trying to cover their butts. This is your education. Do whats right for you.

P.S. The beach is nice but the thing you can't see in pictures is the smell of rotten fish. I am not kidding.
