This is my final year at UMHB. I am under the psychology department. I view the psychology professors as very lazy. They are not willing to help you even after you have emailed them for weeks and popped into their office. You?re probably thinking, ?Go to the department chair.? Well the department chair of psychology is an arrogant narcissistic man to state it lightly.

I am also a military veteran receiving the Post 911 GIbill and the bursar and VA are always making mistakes when it comes to me getting paid. The VA certifying official at the school is clueless and makes many mistakes.

The employees in the Bursars office are very rude and act like you?re an inconvenience to them. When the last time I checked this is a private institution and if it weren?t for us students attending they would not even have jobs.

The technology department employees are not very experienced. It took me going to them three times with the same email issue until it finally was fixed.

Fees are not refundable so if you sign up for a class with a fee and then drop they will not give you your money back. They charge many different fees so beware of budgeting for those extra fees. The price at this university is simply outrageous compared to the education that one receives. Exceptions to this appear to be the nursing, education, and psychology departments. It is expensive, but there are others that are more so. Generally, while I was there, the social life was relaxed, and more up to you than up to the CAB. The faculty was so-so. There are a lot of classes taught by only one person and there are some teachers that can be downright vindictive, but I would not consider that unique. It does tend to have just enough Christian flavor to make you feel like it might be a very spiritual campus. If that bothers you, don't go there. They are not going to change. In terms of authentic spirituality, it is about like any other "christian college". Don't expect it to be really distinctive. If you want a small school experience, this is it, but don't be fooled into thinking it is some sort of exclusive experience you can only get there.
