Eventhough you are always offered the online classes, you are still paying the same amount as on campus as University. Remember, a Univerisity is a lot more expensive. And Devry is considered a University. Worst of all, all the classes are hybrid online. There is no science lab here just answer the questions on the book. Math is useless, The professor just sits on his ass while you work on your own pace on the computer. For the amount I am spending on this school atleast teach me something. Previously I had to change my major because most my core classes (Multimedia Design) were going to be offered online and I can't learn on how to run a program without someone there to help me (online classes). So why should I spent all that money if I have to learn to that by myself? Fuck that, I am going to get my monies worth and get a higher paying job! I had tons of fun with people from school. But only because there was a group who decided to make Devry fun. Thanks to toastmasters, ASB, and other clubs that I was apart of changed how i talk to people. A am more out going then I ever was. I have returned a few times and school there is boring and dead. The only bad thing i would say is ECT is a horrible degree so is BSTM. Students who are planning to go to Devry GET AN ENGINEERING DEGREE!!! Trust me I would change it if i had the chance. The bad thing about Devry it cost A LOT of money. Would have gone to another school definitely if I had the chance. But hey I have a descent job so I must not complain. Tips for DeVry Students:

Get experience. No one really cares about what school you went too. But if that's the only thing you have on your resume with your clerical or fast food skills that you did during college it really isn't going to land you your dream job.

No one is getting tech jobs out of college, unless you got a hook-up.

I graduated from DeVry in Spring 2002 with the stigma of the dot-com crash luring over IT world, but I applied the things that I got from DeVry to help me learn more. You guys got to remember that you never stop learning. Out of DeVry the most advance thing you might know how to do as a CIS grad, is connect a simple ASP website to an Access database. Hey that's great, but look, everyone knows how to do that. What you all have to do is learn the things no one else knows. And that's what I did. You will be surprised how many companies are willing to allow a college grad work for free to gain experience. Not to mention the experience you can gain on your own. Hey if you have to start a business, so that you have a legit thing to put on your resume, (do this during college even), and learn about the latest or what corporate fortune 500 companies are using. I can almost guarantee doors will start to open. I guess what I am trying to say in my rambling, is that if you really want something, you will do whatever to get it. Hey I did it, and know I am 26 and I am leaving my current position as Systems Application Analyst Sr. Java Programmer to start a new job this year making about 84 thousand as the Sr Programmer for a fortune 500 company. And to think I graduated from DeVry with no prior experience, except the fact that I love to code. Hope this helps and good luck to everyone.
