The students are not really too serious about their education and some of them are, for the lack of better terms, pretty weird or crazy. I've met some that are so misinformed about laws, literature and arts that I wonder about where they even to for school. For example, I've met a student in PCC that claimed that we should sue writers or authors that are using public domain characters (characters in stories who are not copyrighted due to them being too old or aren't copyrightable, the public owns these stories not a company or person according to the definition that's provided by Stanford University, so they could be used or modified in any way in a different work). He thinks that we should start issuing lawsuits left and right because he thinks that the usage of unpatented, public domain characters is copyright infringement and apparently, this includes John Milton because he reinterpreted biblical characters (public domain characters) in "Paradise Lost". Don't let this guy into the English department to read "Paradise Lost" then, since he'll probably start freaking out.

I also met another person who wants to be in a cult (he's about 20 years old or so) and he admires people like Marshall Applewhite and Jim Jones (these 2 are also responsible for group and mass suicides related to cults). I actually want to stay away from this guy but I have to wait another semester before that happens.

The school's rooms are also pretty old, I don't mind older buildings so long as there is a sense of history or culture involved with their architecture (such as the castles or older buildings of Europe), but these buildings just seem so plain and boring and there is little art involved with these buildings making the learning environment very plain. The room that I was in also had a dead beetle in the window frame showing you how bad the buildings are.
But other than the crazy students and old buildings, I don't have too many complaints. They're very pretentious and think that they are intelligent but they come off as either politically correct or as conspiracy theorists. One guy came off as a member of the Heaven's Gate cult or a member of some other UFO group and another thinks that reinterpretations of legendary and mythological characters in storytelling is copyright infringement despite those characters being well over thousands of years old. Also, the students don't generally care about their education, but rather they care about having sex, smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and other assortments of useless things. Some of them also come off as posers or hipsters as well, which isn't uncommon since it's Los Angeles after all. The food is also overpriced, the tuition is higher than most areas and the books are ridiculously expensive. Most other community colleges charge 100 dollars (maybe little more) for their books, this place charges 200 and sometimes 300. Whoever says that the students are nice probably are either politically correct or are sadomasochists. The campus is beautiful, the teachers (at least the ones that I have met so far) are knowledgeable and nice, but the people and students of this school are terrible. Not only that but everything is ridiculously overpriced. The cafeteria food is terrible and overpriced. It's 1 dollar and 40 cents for a small cup of coffee and the regular price of books is around 200 to 300 dollars which is actually far more than some books in other community colleges such as Los Angeles Valley College. Not only that, but as I have before, the other students are terrible. They only concern themselves with becoming high on drugs or sleeping with as many women as possible with little emphasis on education or studying and the one's that are smart seem to come off as conspiracy theorists that believes in aliens creating mankind or really arrogant people that think that they're the best which completely goes against any sort of logic. The school is good for education but it is highly advised not to interact with anyone here other than the teachers. Credits that you took at another school will not transfer in-not because of the coursework covered-but because the other school you went to is on quarters and not semesters like PCC. The students do not dictate whether the school goes on quarters or semesters, so that should not be held against the student. The only thing that should matter is if the student got the same information/lessons in the other class taken at the other college as it pertains to the courses at PCC. Also, the counselors are not readily available. They only provide same day appointments, and if you are in class in the mornings when they open, chances of you getting an appointment on a day when you are actually on campus are slim. They must understand that not every student can drop what they are doing on days they do not attend class to drive all the way out to Pasadena for a 30-45 minute session (if your question takes that long to answer).
