I have been at Full Sail for about 8 months in the Film program. I will admit there are some very useless classes such as Computer Science and Internet and English Composition Online but those are minor issues. My experience so far has been very positive. I have learned invaluable information about filmmaking and movies. Full Sail is a school where you get what you put in. If you go expecting to pass all of your classes, graduate, show your diploma at an interview, and get hired you are looking in the wrong place. Full Sail is a hands on school. You need to get out there and get experience by using what they teach you. They do not treat it as a school, they treat it as training for the rest of your life. Grades do not get you jobs in the film industry, experience does. I have met many wonderful friends at this school and not just buddies but people I would want to work with in the future. You will have to work hard if you choose to go to this school. And you will have to volunteer for projects outside of school whenever possible. If you give 110% you will get it back. You can verify it yourself by simply talking to any other college or government agency about full sail degree or transferring credits from full sail and you will hear it. If you read the comments in this forum, you will come to the same conclusion as well. Of course, don't believe any of the positive postings you will find on the Internet because they are mostly made by the administration of Full Sail to confuse the public. Full Sail is making also blogs and web sites on a regular basis in order to fool the unsuspecting students. To be honest, i have barely done anything in school besides not skipping school and not being late, but after graduation, I was contacted by several top studios in the world and offered interviews and whatnot. I went to the interviews and scored them and now I have trouble deciding which one to go to.

Oh, and I don't understand people ranting about the crazy schedules or deadlines either. The school clearly says it offers "real world education". Please learn to read.

I have to say, I am very impressed with the career dev department, as they literally handed me the jobs. I once doubted them and was warned that I should just do my own job hunting, but they literally spoon-fed me the jobs before I even looked anything up.

Bottom line, it's a cruise for me, but career dev feeds you jobs in cool places. And that is one of the most important things - getting your foot in the door. I can honestly tell you that if it weren't for Full Sail, these Grammy-winning pals would not have offered me a job in a million years. Oh, and I would not have met Buford Jones and Chris Lord-Alge. The challenges are ahead, in the real world.

Overall, I do not regret going to FS at all. And who cares about all that accreditation bs? I don't need it to score a job, hell, I got a bunch of interviews lined up before I even graduated, and now I have several job offers less than 2 weeks after I graduated.

I'd even recommend you to go to FS, not because of the amazing staff or gear, but because of what you can put down on your resume to show people what you have done and what you are capable of.

As for Full Sail reputation? People can say w/e they want, but this is what I can tell you from my own experience, some don't care, but other top facilities specifically ask for top FS grads, i.e. Avatar studios(the old Power Station studios).

The classmates are extremely friendly (in a positive way), open minded and very creative. The courses are what are expected to be, the faculty and staff are very helpful, and though the degrees price are expensive, are in the average with other universities. The difference is that Full Sail gives you the option to finish early and that, obviously, raise the price, but is an option. You can also select the bachelor (for example) and do it in three years and that is going to low the semester price. They gave me a Real World Education that had me land a job in the Game Industry before graduating from the game design program. I have since gone back for my Masters degree, and am challenged everyday. I have to agree with others here that you get out of it what you put into it. If you are driven and live and breathe to accomplish a goal of landing a job within the industry and being outfitted with the tools needed to be a success then this is the place for you.

I can only assume those that slam the University or call it a scam were not committed to their dream in the first place. Yes it is expensive, but this is a competitive industry and to get into it you must have the tools, a network of professionals, and teachers that have contacts and experience within the industry. Full Sail gives you all that and more if you only put forth the effort.

Closing here I would say that if you really want to work hard, and achieve your goals then look into it further. Talk to course directors for the program you are interested in, and alumni. Full Sail is highly respected within the industry, but it is up to you. No one is going to hand you a job. You have to work hard and differentiate yourself from the competition.
