My professors have all been very helpful and a couple of them made themselves available to me during their personal time. Most of the campus is beautiful and well maintained but there are a few areas that get very muddy and need attention. My on campus apartment is great and I love my roommates. The food is hit or miss; sometimes really good, sometimes not so great. But I can always get fresh fruit! I would definitely recommend Hartford to anyone who wants to enjoy the whole college experience. The surrounding area is terrible. there is no goo d transportation to get you around on weekdays. there is a free shuttle to tkae you to some of the nicer and shopping areas on weekends, but believe me when i tell you that all areas surrounding the school are boring. the club scene is terrible. If you are black, you must listen to reggae and be ready for guys to bassically have sex with u with your clothes on. It's just a terrible school. I cant't find a positive. I literally had to sell almost everything I own to be able to afford this school. My student loans are burying me alive and there?s nothing I can do. Every year they make the tuition more, and they take away some of your financial aid. The only reason why it seems manageable freshman year is because they want you to go there and once you?re there, you?re stuck. Even orientation is a lie. They feed you ice cream, steak, mashed potatoes, the whole nine yards, but once you get here you?re paying 4,000 dollars a year for chicken nuggets and cereal. If you go for a tour here, the staff cleans up the route that you take. If you go elsewhere off the route, you?ll see how disgusting and badly maintained everything is. The freshmen dorms are disgusting, aside from hawk hall. They just built a new building, not for new classrooms but for STAFF. So we get moved into their shitty offices and they make a makeshift classroom out of it, and they get a brand new building. This is where all our money is going to, not for a great education, but to butter the staff up so they?ll stay at this shit hole for longer. The food is disgusting, the dorms are so overpriced it ridiculous. The school gets 16,000 dollars a year from four kids combined from one apartment in regents. I could live in a penthouse suite in NY for that much money. Not a dumpy apartment where everything is falling apart, shitty plumbing, and loud noises coming from the hallway and outside. Last year in the Village Apartments there was a spider infestation, and there are rats all the time in the 5s (inside). Its gross and I would rather pay my 43,000 and go to Harvard or Northeastern because it?s pretty much the same price but the education you get will be one you can actually get a job after college with. There are a decent amount of open parties, but it is arguable that there is not a lot to do if you are not in a frat or sorority. Fortunately there are so many on campus you are sure to find one that fits you and they are pretty much just a tool to meet more people on campus. People who knock greek life tend to be very close minded and don't understand the sisterhood/brotherhood that comes with being in one. Sad part about this school is a lot of awesome people fail out because they had too much fun. Balance school work with partying and you're going to be excited to come back every year. The people i've met here and the academics are the main reason I am returning next year. Spring flings sick, bars are easy to get into. be outgoing and give the place a chance!
