It's not horrible, but it's nothing fantastic either. I've had some wonderful professors and they have helped me grow and realize what my potential is. Then, of course, I have had the typical bland professors, as well as one in particular who is extremely arrogant and condescending. But that is a whole different story. Most professors I have had are very helpful and encourage you to use their office hours for your benefit. There have been many case where I had an adjunct professor, and with those, it's hit or miss. They are either really good at what they do, or seem clueless about how to teach effectively.

I have never had a problem with the financial aid office, but I have had friends who literally could not go to school for two semesters in a row because the office messed up paperwork. So, there's that.

As far as social life goes, or rather, doesn't go, there isn't much to do. All students commute and most simply go to class and then go home. There are clubs to join but only a few I can name off the top of my head. I was personally disappointed by the lack of music-related extra-curriculars. I have made a few friends here, but it is fairly difficult given that people come and go according to their schedules.

I avoid the cafeterias at all costs except for early mornings and late afternoon. That sounds weird, but they get extremely rowdy and sometimes it's hard to even hear someone next to you. Girls, including myself, tend to get approached a lot in ways that aren't appreciated. I've encountered some students who are a bit too forward for my liking and do not take no for an answer. It can get a tad annoying, so I tend to go to quieter areas when I want to just chill.

The library is pretty nice. There are a fair amount of cubicles for people to study privately, as well as silent study rooms and group study rooms. The computer area can get extremely noisy when students go there to watch YouTube videos and talk loudly. It can be hard to concentrate on your paper or homework when that happens. Also, the lines for the computers can be outrageous. If you want to simply print out a page, you can be waiting for a good 20 minutes because half of the users are on Facebook.

The campus itself is beautiful, I have to say. I love going on walks on nice days. Nice scenery and very clean.

Sometimes my classes are extremely easy and you literally just have to show up and pretend to know what you're talking about. Others require a LOT of work and that is what I like and expect. I hate not being challenged and unfortunately some of the classes I have taken have not been challenging in the least.

Overall, if you need a school to go to for 2 years before transferring, it's not THAT bad, just don't expect too much and be prepared to be annoyed more times than you would like. I have one semester to go before transferring and I am extremely excited.

The people in the finaid department are, for the most part, friendly and genuinely want to help; however, they are often uninformed in what amounts to a confusing and backwards process.

I paid out-of-pocket to go to MCC for the summer while I was considering a career change, though I was approved for a Direct Loan. I have been waiting for three months for my refund, and I expect to still be waiting three months from now, though the young woman in the financial aid office initially told me I should see a check in three weeks. I have spoken to at least five different people about this: the cashier's office blames financial aid, who blames the cashier's office. It makes one wonder how anyone can ever pay for college with such a messy, confusing process involving far too many people!

They are not understanding and show no sympathy to a person with financial needs and people going through a difficult time who are juggling work and school. It seems that the staffs only goal is to keep a student at the school in order to take students tuition from them for as long as possible. Teachers as well as counselors are uncooperative and difficult to approach. Student should not wake up in the morning dreading class because of the faculty as well as the other students who go there. Science departments are poorly lead and unorganized. They just show you what to take and move on to the next student. No personal advice for personal growth or development. I feel as if there really was no effort or concern to myself as an individual when I did try to seek help with my assigned academic advisor. Instead I just followed the course catalog on my own and followed the procedure by the book. If I did need academic advice I went to my professors that I new personally, which was more helpful. The faculty is the same as any other college, there are some that go out of their way to assist you and others that run in the other direction when they see you coming. Being an independent learner is truly beneficial here. I had a physics course where the professor they hired knew the material but didn't know how to teach it. He worked during the day at another job and taught the class at night, it was obvious he didnt prep before the class. He taught the class like it was basic math but used another full time professor's tests which were like taking calculus 3. Out of 36 students only 10 stayed and only 4 passed.
There's clubs around but they most of them don't really do anything or get involved with events or the community. Being an engineering major, I figure to try out the robotics club. The club advisor only showed up to the first meeting and the club was run by two students that were only interested in doing their own projects.

The staff can be rude and ignorant. I worked as a work-study student in one department. The staff actually varies from one department to another. Worst departments being Financial Aid and Registration. But I did notice that they tend to hire people that are easy to control. In my department the receptionist was difficult, ghetto, and so uneducated. But the guy I worked for was incredible. He made up for the receptionists incompetance. At one point in time 2 people quit and one lady took mental stress leave and he did all their jobs without being paid. That's another thing, they keep the offices extremely understaffed. For example he had to review over 8000 student files by himself every semester, and if things got backed up assistance was provided, they just said work faster.

The counseling deparmtent is a hit or miss. Each time I went and met a different counselor, i got a different answer to the same question.

I only had 3 courses to complete a degree but the courses i need were either being dropped or not offered. I waited 2 years for the courses to be offered just because it would be less expensive and more convenient to take the courses there. I asked the Chairperson that schedule the courses when they will be offered again. She suggested that I would have better luck transferring out and taking it at another college.

For a community college the campus is beautiful. That's probably the nicest thing i could say about the place.
