I had more fun nights in high school than I did at this place. I spent one year here and was pretty miserable. If you're not in a sorority or a fraternity, you probably won't have a social life or anything to do on the weekends. However, the people involved in Greek life are primarily the people that wanted to be cool in high school, weren't, and now think they're cool for being in a sorority/fraternity.

As far as the academics go, this school isn't really challenging. People who are in-state make it seem like it's this amazing institution with great professors and resources and it's not that at all. Most of the classrooms are out of date with the furniture and carpeting. The school spends so much time making the outside of campus look good but the interiors of the buildings are old and out of date.

The food isn't anything spectacular. The commons food is mediocre at best but you'll get sick of it pretty quickly.

Athletes basically run the school. They get first pick of housing and registering for classes. They all think they're cool and hot and they're definitely not at all whatsoever. Speaking of attractiveness, if you're looking for a school with a lot of good looking people, this isn't it.

I'm not writing this review with the intention of scaring anybody away from this university but trying to make people aware of the kinds of people here and what it's actually like. If you're looking for a school that has all the bells and whistles of a beautiful campus and nice buildings and a good looking student body, this probably isn't it. Stetson breaks down to this, as of today. The faculty are nice, smart, occasionally funny...good! The students are...youll find enough good people. So you'll get over that, ok? The administration is money grubbing-COMPLETELY! But, every college does that so legit go home school yourself if you don't like every college in the world abusing your wallet/loan.
You'll learn, it costs a couple thousand dollars... Lol. But you get over it. Try not to get the details, Stetson is livable. You get the education. Just gloss over every expense 10000 times before you say "ok okay steetson let's go for a whirl"

By the time you're a senior Stetson has already raised your tuition by 6,000 (while your scholarships have remained stagnant). Your counterparts in public universities like uf, unf, and ucf will be making the same salary as you when you graduate minus all the student loans.
For me, I chose a private university because I like small class room sizes, being able to talk to my teachers, and choosing classes that I want. But now Stetson is like a big university without the nice buildings and ALOT of student loans. There is also a lack of diversity in the student population and nearly NOTHING to do on the weekends. Unless you like that small town stuff, you'll be finding yourself in Orlando on the weekend - Stetson is a ghost town on weekends! I was really in love with Stetson my freshman and sophomore year a and I was proud to be a hatter but now I'm disappointed in it and understand why so many of Stetson's Alumnae don't donate to the annual fund.
