It's horrible and the faculty is a piece of work. They don't give a crap about you. They just want to get there in the morning, do nothing, and then go home. If you have a problem they never try to get it resolved themselves, but they stick you in a line instead. It's just plain horrible. I would rather go to clown college instead of here, but it would probably be an upgrade from SPC. It's small, and it's primarily a commuter college. All social life takes place in Lubbock, and most people have lives outside of college. If all you're looking for is a party college, look else where. I'm not trying to discourage you, but if you want the "college life", SPC isn't really ideal.

It's an affordable college where you're not a number, you know almost everyone in your classes. If they're degree related, you'll likely have those people in your classes for all four semesters.

I didn't honestly like my core requirement classes. And not because of the teachers. They're really great. It's the fact you have the students how haven't been able to grow out of High School or bombed out of another college and feel they're being punished. They drag the whole class down.

I loved my major related class. Those people knew what they wanted, worked hard, and were ready to work with you.

There's some amazing math teachers there. Drive, Davis, and James are brilliant. James is math guru who pound into you all the things you need to know in Cal II to make all you're future math classes seem easy. He's really fair.

My favorite thing of all though was the classes related to my major. I was originally going into Engineering then I took a Computer Science class with Young and fell in love with the subject. She's the only computer science teacher, but she really knows her stuff, she is an absolutely wonderful teacher, and she's always there to help.

I didn't expect to learn a lot at a community college when I first started, but finishing my last semester up here before I transfer to a four year university has given me a different perspective. Big college doesn't equal better education quality, what it all comes down to is the teachers.

And SPC has some great teachers. I felt that I'm taking a lot out of this school with me. I feel like I know a lot, and that I've been able to grow.

The math and engineering department has great staff and it is a great school to attend if you are planning on transferring to a four year university to pursue a bachelor's in any discipline of engineering. The department really focuses more on the mechanics of mathematics that you will need in your upper level engineering courses rather than on just a bunch of theory and proofs.
