PROS: I attended Ashford online and my experience was excellent. The content was relevant and the coursework was demanding, but manageable. Students take one course per 5 week session and all books are delivered electronically, so there is no need to purchase text books. If you attend this school you will EARN your degree: it is not a diploma mill.

CONS: The tuition is somewhat high at $452/credit hour (about $1500 per course with fees) unless you qualify for military status, which is $250/credit hour. I did not have to pay out of pocket for my courses as my tuition was paid for through the Army tuition assistance program.

CURRENT STATUS: Although Ashford was a brick and mortar university when I attended online, the school is now only online, is based out of California, and is still regionally accredited.

Again, I recommend Ashford if you can afford the tuition.

My Academic Advisor changed at least three times a year allowing for no continuity. I had to have numerous interactions with the financial aid office for minor issues. They were the least helpful department I have ever encountered. My last call with Christian ended with him hanging up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor.

I am not sure how Ashford operates but within my organization that is grounds for termination. I have never been treated with such disrespect as I was by the Ashford employees.

The teachers were overall friendly and as engaging as an online format allows for. I found most of the classes filled with busy work and not very challenging. I graduated with a 3.97 GPA and received all As and one B+ in four years.I worked full time while enrolled.

My ratings on physical environment and social life are listed a Cs as a neutral vote. I have no reflection on any of these areas since I attended through an online format.

They have grown too rapidly, had accreditation issues as a result, and have rapidly raised tuition rates. It's impossible now to get an advisor that is useful. You must expect to micromanage your financial aid, your account, your class schedule, and at times, call in to get your courses changed yourself due to advisor's scheduling improperly. You have no access to the dates of classes, or the ability to sign up for them yourself. Also, be prepared for them to change what is required for your program, as well as their policies every few months. They have 3 version of the 2013-2014 student handbook, for example. I had already used this format at brick and mortar junior colleges so I was prepared for how the assignments might be designed. The class selection was determined by my advisor based on predictions of filling sections with the major populous. Only once did I bother to request a certain class as a prerequisite to starting senior year courses. The advisors I had were all fairly prompt and now as a alumnus I am contacted often regaurding returning for graduate work or opportunities they have for me in the career center. I've served in the military for the last 16 years and attended numerous schools in pursuit of my BA. Ashford is the best school I've attended. If they had the MA program I want I would continue with them. Don't take my word for it, but test it out yourself. Sat, 24 Aug 2013 01:53:55 GMT http://www.studentsreview.com/IA/MSCC_comments.html
