If you're from a large town or a big city, this place makes you feel empty. To keep it short, there is nothing to do, full of white trash, and faculty that has no idea how to solve your complex issues.

I was never racist growing up until I came to this place. It's hard not to see the rural stereotype when you feel isolated by white people and was forced by rural white culture everyday. After transferring, I plan to get my memory erased from such a bad experience.

In greater details, as an oncampus student for 5 semesters I had trouble with every single roommate. Most of them thought I was crazy for being so "anal" and "eating weird and smelly food". After transferring to UMD, my new roommates thought I am an interesting person who eats trendy food. Everyday I hear someone partying downstairs or smoking cannibals for hours (not exaggerating). I called police to calm them down because I had an exam tomorrow, but the police joined the party instead. like wtf?

Education wise, only the business major is subpar. After finishing my GenEd classes, most professors are closeminded to new ideas and teaching methods. I asked about subject articles related to class and wanted to start a conversation. But most of them rejected it and thought I was asking an exam question. Meaning they are not up to date to the outside world and rely on old material. heck, even their powerpoint slides date back to 5-7 years ago on file title. this applys to over 16 of my classes Whereas business is up to date all the time.

Outside of School, nothing to do. No attraction, 3 run down ethnic restaurants, minor activities, nothing exciting for adventurous people. Maybe a green smoothie restaurant or ice cream rolls, but no one wants to go there because white trash dont understand the appeal. Do not come here with a sense of entitlement. You are not ever entitled to anything. Don't attempt to have friends here. Let them come into your life without forcing things. For me one of the hardest parts of this university was dealing with roommates. I lived on campus the first two years. Two years of living hell. The first year wasn't so bad, but my roommate would ghost me and had strange rituals. The second year was probably the worst of all the years. I lived in terrible conditions with people who did not respect quiet hours and would blame you for complaining. It was truly a living hell. As for the people who go to Salisbury, some are nice. Most, however, are pretentious, have a sense of entitlement and are real life crybabies. For any little thing they complain. Another thing. If this is specific to this location or any other, but people here are the most gullible creatures on the planet. No wonder this country voted for Trump, the mentality is reflected in the universities. I have met people here that were disrespectful, unappreciative, very closed minded and outright egomaniacs. I moved back home with my parents, but I have developed serious trust issues stemming from this university. But who doesn't. Honestly, I can tell you the negative stuff, but life in general is pretty negative. Your born, go to school, maybe a get job, go to retirement and die or anything can happen to you along the way. What I found remarkable, not from this university, but from mankind is that people create situations in order to trap and profit from you, essentially slavery never ended, it transformed. Mankind doesn't want to be educated because it is in constant battle with itself. Delusions that when you go to college everything will turn out well are false. Pick your places well, because some places can turn you into a monster. Another thing I noticed is that most people are resistant to change and resistant to other forms of being. However, this university is truly something to laugh about. I do not recommend coming here and recommend getting your act together from a young age so you do not have to suffer the horrors of coming here. Or you could change your perspective. Either way gives you the same result, so there is no need to panic. However, I did not feel challenged here, mostly because I played dumb in high school, not taking school seriously, because of the mess I had to deal with at home. But, honestly life is pretty depressing, so whatever you do enjoy it while it lasts. I generally despise humanity now. I am also an antinatalist and a misanthrope. I believe humanity puts too much emphasis on things that are irrational and arbitrary like going out to a party or even having fun. My perfect dream and reality is walking through a forest and being connected to all the spirits and people who have come and gone, among the trees, I truly feel a sense of life, not among the artificial environments men have created. When I hear the noises of the trees, the birds, and the animals of the forest, that is when I am truly free. Education and Buildings:
I took 8 science classes, most of the professors looked mentally and physically depressed. They were either old, obese, and/or have saggy eyes with a depressed monotone voice. The science buildings are very old and did not innovate anything for 20 years. The learning material are very outdated and does not open to new ideas. I tried 4 times writing an article that relates to new discoveries but the professor says it must follow what the textbook says and not with current events. Like wtf?
After switching to business major I felt like a lot of stress have been lifted. The business students get to work in a glorious new building with faculty and teachers that all look healthy and really happy.The only downside is the extremely limited companies you have to work with. Either Perdue chicken company or Car dealerships. The teaching methods and material are very up to date and fresh. I would highly recommend going into business if you want a healthy environment.

Students and surrounding City:
It's not a city. It is labeled "rural" meaning it is a country side. That also means the people and business have not even developed. For 2 years I tried to find suburban and city people like me around here. I have met over 70 people who all agreed Eastern Shore is Awful and filled with closed minded rednecks. I had dozens of roommates who played country roads everyday and other country music. The police are useless when it comes to finding weed and alcohol when it happens everyday here on campus. I tried to have a normal conversation but all they can talk about was drugs, girls, and how many beers they can chug. The girls on campus only talk about sucking guys dongs all the time. I am not exaggerating because I hear this EVERYDAY in class and from my roommates. The area has 10 burger joints, 3 americanized chinese restaurants, 2 starbucks, 1 chickfila, and 2 grocery stores.

Summary
If you lived in suburban or even in the city, this place is definitely not for you. The science education is outdated, depressing professors (except business), buildings are all old, obese restaurant, and god awful redneck locals. The students are unfriendly and unapproachable. They are rude, do not have manners, curse a lot, think that they came here only to make friends, drink alcohol and do drugs. They also do not respect individual privacy and think that it is normal to play loud music from 12 am to 3 am during the week. If I could describe this institution it would be up there between Kent State Penitentiary and Alabama State prison. Do not come here, in fact do not even come to the Eastern Shore. It is a waste of space filled with rednecks and hoodlums. American Capitalism at its finest. Brings out the stupid in you. I have never felt so devoid of creativity at this institution. Whoever you talk to is either too stupid to understand what your talking about or to arrogant to even care. However if you are an average American this should not be a problem for you. If you went to a private school beware of the public school kids. They play by different rules and your usually more aggressive and less tolerant, less open minded. If you want to be an intellectual, it is a hard task. I have spent 2 years and nearly a semester and have not found a single intellectual among the masses. Those I have found are arrogant, snooty, violent and close minded. Besides, the university aesthetics does not provide a place for intellectual to gather. Although it provides many fraternity houses where drunken drugged students spend their time wasting their lives and affecting the growth of the civilization. I feel sometimes trapped when you go to the dinning area and sit alone people notice and start saying nasty things about you. All I can say to this is if your reading this and are an intellectual who wants to be someone in life think twice before coming here. You might succeed, but the probability weigh on you from your surrounding peers, institution and city. Jealousy is rampant here, selfishness has no cure and ego has grown deep roots. Beware of this institution it might be okay, it might not. Be careful who you talk to and do not give much information about yourself to others. They might use it against you through jealousy or any other means. Also do not call campus police if you have troubles with roomates, please comfront them first before calling anyone. Do so until you reach your breaking point. Also people are not very forgiving here, but who cares when all they do with their free time is drink and do drugs?
Pick wisely, this decision might bite you back. Follow that voice in your head before turning to your dark side.
Amen and may God protect the intellectual minds out there somewhere in the universe. I am warning you to not try to fit in, be yourself because it is the only way you can survive here.
