I absolutely love it here. I have made awesome friends and have been able to have a fantastic college experience thus far. I am a student in the highly esteemed Olin Buisiness School and have been quite pleased with the opportunities it has presented me. I chose to come here over other schools with undergraduate business (Upenn, Cornell, UVA, UNC, Berkeley, etc.) and don't regret that decision at all. WashU is already an elite school, and its stock is one of the quickest growing ones amongst other top universities. It turned out to be fine preparation for my career in science and later in law. It was also not the pre-med juggernaut it has become, although pre-meds were still a prominent feature of the student body. If I was applying today, I'd be a bit concerned about the school's commitment to undergraduate training in non-biology/chemical fields. For example, my impression is that the engineering school, outside of biomed and chemical, is not what it used to be. Ditto for physics. I don't know what's happening in the humanities now; when I was there, philosophy and history were decent departments. If you want to study business or engineering, this university is also a great option. But if you are more inclined towards the humanities and want a good liberal arts education, STAY AWAY. I have been incredibly disappointed by the lack of attention the school pays to its liberal arts. The professors are largely inexperienced and seem to be at the bottom of the university's teaching hierarchy. Halfway through my time here I feel completely lost and unprepared to go to law school, which is my goal after graduation. Not to mention, the student body is surprisingly cliquey and unfriendly with a rapidly growing "jappy" population. Social life is decent, but could really be a lot better for both Greeks and non-Greeks. I'll conclude with this: you are rolling the dice when applying here. I will admit, the people who love it here really do love it. But there seems to be a growing discontent in the student body, and I very much regret picking Wash U.
