BUT! something happened along the way where I was finding that I was unhappy attending SNHU, and here is why. The program that I was majoring had almost no classes in my concentrated subject matter, I am a history major who had a goal in mind, and history is supposed to be one of the most comprehensive majors in education. Yes, the intro courses were available but that was all they had and I had completed all of them. I ended up having to take American literature and some political science classes to get the history out of it. Also when I complained about this to my academic counselor, her response to me was to take the online classes, but I am not an online student, I am in the day program.I am changing schools, and don't care if it takes me a little longer to graduate, I want a great gpa so that I can go on to a good graduate school and make something of myself. I should not have to go take other courses that are not within my major to extract what I am looking for. Going to school on a full-time work schedule can be rather difficult and SNHU did a good job to accommodate me in my first semester. However, in my second semester one of my courses requirements were completely changed with under 2 days notice from the start of the first class. It was changed in such a way that the course now required an extensive amount of mandatory community service, something I could not manage aside my work schedule. The faculty were very condescending when I e-mailed them seeking urgent assistance in this matter stating that I should have registered sooner (I registered 2 months in advance). In the end they were no help at all and even said I would lose aid if I dropped the class without adding something in its place, in my opinion this was blackmail. In the end I had to take on a late night class which will cause great strain in my life for the next 16 weeks. Because of all the new advertisements the school financial aid is behind. I was billed for a term while attending on financial aid. I contacted financial aid and my advisor about dropping the classes, both advised me not to drop. On the day it was too late to drop without a charge someone from financial aid contacted me about a statement. I was away at the time and did not see how I could provide the statement. Therefore, I asked about dropping again and was told, "It's too late." I informed them I was told not to drop the classes, they said, "We can't tell you what to do." I found away and sent in the statement the same day. What is the use to speaking with them if later they through it back at you with "We can't tell you what to do"?

Then I had a problem in one of my classes. The instructor did not follow the rules of the rubric. Instead of any of the faculty listening to my concerns, they ignored the issue and tried to dismiss my complaints by focusing on things they thought would shut me up.

I filed a complaint with the BBB, they responded with lies and accusations. This university is morally bankrupted; after they get you enrolled, you become a number and nothing more.

In the end they are a business and I am a consumer. I should not have to take a course I found not to be up to par, with an instructor that did not follow the rubric. What is the rubric for if the instructor can do as she pleases? It has been an outstanding experience so far. The college goes above and beyond putting together the content for the online classes. They offers tons of resources to their students. Some of the classes are very difficult. If you have a hard time with math, don't do it online. I had trouble scheduling my public speaking class too. But overally its been the BEST online experience I have had. I have earned an AS in CIT and now I am working on a BS in CIT. The courses run in 8 week increments so they are not too short or TOO LONG. :) They are always offering nice events for students like pizza parties :) And they acknowledge your success!!
