Many people consider this as a negative. Yes, DeVry does have aggressive recruiting tactics, but I have found most of their claims to be true (very small classes, courses that actually matter, professors that you can talk to). Yes, DeVry wants your money, but they do try to earn it with a customer service-type of approach to education. Many not for profit colleges also aim to make some money off of their students (you think that those $1000+/semester meal plans that some universities REQUIRE students to have are just an accident? HA!)

Academic-wise, DeVry is not the toughest school in town. Most of the tests, aside from all math and English classes, are multi choice and open book (I am speaking from the business major's view, EET, NCM and CET majors have a tougher time due to the nature of some of the classes).

DeVry might not be the best college for first time freshman, due to the price. DeVry is fantastic for someone who has a lot of misc. college credit, as they can plug it into DVU's degree completion program. This brings me up to my next point: Complete your biology, your English, your history and your math (up to statistics) at a community college. You will save a lot of money, and transferring to DeVry is very easy.

As for employer/college acceptance, I have had zero trouble finding a job (in accountancy), and I will be attending GCU next year for my M.Ed. I've found that most people who try to put down DeVry's academic programs generally do not have any experience with DeVry whatsoever (and constantly try to compare us with UoP, a completely different animal), and they can't come up with real reasons to discount a DeVry degree other than "they advertise too much" (which is unfortunately true).

Furthermore, if you want to continue your education and say, get a MSEE, then it could be hard to switch because there is a stigma between a BSEE and a BSEE and MSEEs don't seem to like to admit BSEETs into their Masters program without making you take at least a years worth of classes to "catch up."
