Somehow the people that work here are determined to do nothing resembling work at all but are happy to make you run around from crappy office to crappy office instead of doing anything to assist you. 89% of the office staff in this place should get fired tomorrow. The administrators are useless and the teachers are all part timers. Also forget about taking classes because the ones you need are only offered at 4:00 AM every third Thursday when the moon is full. They are also somehow full before registration even starts. This place is the worst. It would be better if they canned the whole thing and started from scratch. The only thing this school might have going for it is a good outside appearance (pretty campus). Everyone who comes to this school knows that you will NEVER find a person who can help you with any issue. Somehow every faculty person knows someone else who can help you, until you're running around in circles. The classes offered are mediocre, at best, and never at a time that suits students. The professors, the good ones, appear in a handful. The rest can hardly speak the same language as you, or are so self-absorbed they can't stand the idea that they are just misly professors at a city college. The amount of learning done at the school is completely overshadowed by the miserable experience attained. Somehow tuition gets higher, and more students are accepted (meaning overcrowded classes, if you can even get a spot). The acceptance standards for this school are more obvious every year; pretty soon I think they'll take anyone who wants a degree, regardless of whether they can count to 10. The business professors are amazing, my time with real professionals that worked in GE, Ernst & Young, Johnson and Johnson and other Wall St firms made my learning experience exciting. The core classes are garbage and ridiculously long. The cost of going to school is low and the admissions office/registrar is not something you want to deal with. I guess you gotta get through the pain (the admissions) in order to feel good (amazing professors). Brooklyn college is not the school you expect when going for the "college experience" because most students live in the area. BUT, after attending a few classes, appreciating the surrounding beauty, meeting creative and intelligent people, you start to love it. Of course there are students, professors and faculty who have attitude. That being said, Brooklyn college has real people. They do not sugar coat their staff because students are paying $40,000 a year for it. They give you real professors for real students. Brooklyn college lacks in student spirit and activities mainly because most people here have jobs or outside entertainment. There is a greek life, clubs, and activities that are quite enjoyable, but it is not as present as other schools are. Academically, school is challenging. You have professors that are easier than others, but even they can challenge you. I really enjoy going here. The school is not perfect, there are many flaws...but it is real and a good match for me. I hope that other people can reflect a good light on the school as well- the students here definitely deserve it.
