This school is not prepared to handle veteran students. They refuse to abide by V.A. rules and regulations. They have caused me financial difficulty due to their veteran representatives lack of knowledge about filing paperwork promptly and correctly. I have a very difficult time contacting anyone in their veterans department. I am routinely ignored after repeated phone calls and emails. I had to resort to contacting the president and vice president of the school to resolve issues. Only then were their veterans department willing to work with me and they still did not follow the guidelines that the V.A. instructed which made problems worse. Their head veteran representative who is located on their Dobbs Ferry campus is extremely lazy and unreliable. Every time a mistake was made on his part or a different department and I brought it to his attention, I was given numerous excuses and rehearsed rhetoric. Which made it obvious to me that his role was not to help me or other veterans but secure as much G.I. Bill funding from veterans as they possibly can. This school is routinely recruiting veterans and their veterans department is not prepared and does not have the motivation and drive to solve veterans issues with their G.I. Bill. If you are reading this then you are a person that likes to be prepared and make good decisions. I am letting you know now that it will be a bad decision for you to attend this school, you will regret it. I have been in meetings with the leadership of the school telling veterans they should not be concerned with receiving their B.A.H. because their education is more important. Which I totally disagree with if you served honorably you deserve 100% of your G.I. Bill including B.A.H. period! I was very excited to attend this school based on the degree program and I became quickly discouraged and frustrated by this schools lack of substance. Everything is money driven and there is not much real learning going on. I only attended one semester and that was enough for me. I needed my official transcript because I just transferred here and I contacted the transfer office. Within a week I had it. The campus is nice but quiet, which doesn't bother me because I live off campus. The food in cafeteria is very good compared to my last college! One downside is the noisy library. They should hire security guards who keep the noise down. The education quality is fine and more intense than Community Colleges. Many of the professors are quite wise and intelligent and masters in their field. Some professors are better than others as the case is with all schools. The faculty and staff does their job. I feel that the only people that review the school are people with negative views so the school gets a bad grade. But no one with a positive experience seems to be bothering to comment. I enjoy the classes, and I enjoy the majority of the professors. So far I think everything and everyone I have dealt with is spot on. Make more of an effort to get a positive experience and you will get it. I am so sorry that I wasted so much money to receive a degree from a school that I am embarassed to say I attended. This school will accept anyone. I MEAN ABSOLUTELY ANYONE!!. Many of the students I attended GRADUATE classes with did not have even the basic skills, written or oral, needed for an undergrad. degree.

This is a ghetto school!. I should have known by all of the ads and so much of the schools resources going into recruitment, that this was a school interested only in admitting students for the money.

So many students take out thousands of dollars in loans and are unable to get jobs. In many cases students are ill prepared to even complete the degree. A 4.0 GPA at Mercy, is equal to a B- OR C+ at a real college.

95 percent of the professors I had knew very little about the classes they were teaching. One professor, who spent the class reading from a book, even told me I could teach the class. The professors they hire or school counselors who retired from the field years ago and know very little about how school counseling works in NYC schools now. The majority of Mercy's professors are only there to make a buck and have zero interest in really teaching.

One group processes teacher missed five classes, left early, spent the class eating Burger King food and texting. For one class the professor put on a movie and left. Only one time did he even lecture the class. This professor did not even try to hide his lack of respect for the students. When we complained, he bought in his supervisor who them told us that he shared an office with the group processes teacher and considered him a friend.

I took a class with this "supervisor" on reserach methods. He never once lectured the class or even attempted to teach anything about reseach methods. He in fact spent the class coming on to young girls in the class and reading a book. This while the class, broken into groups, conducted reseach with no help or information from the professor. I do not even believe he read the papers we wrote.

One Professor had students in a GRADUTE program watch movies on mental illness for the class, the whole semester. She never lectured on the subject of the class. When she did speak it was about the elderly people she was responsible for. It was very odd.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CONDITION ATTEND MERCY'S SCHOOL COUNSELING GRADUATE PROGRAM. YOU WILL GRADUATE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE TO BEGIN YOUR CAREER AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN LOANS. YOU DO NOT EARN A DEGREE FROM THIS SCHOOL YOU BUY IT!! THERE IS NO ATTEMPT TO HIDE THE FACT THAT MERCY PROVIDES A POOR QUALITY EDUCATION.
