Alpha Delta Phi fraternity  Originally founded as a literary society at Hamilton College in 1832, the Rochester Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi was started in 1850 (and due to strange circumstance, is actually older than the school itself), making it the first and oldest fraternity at the University of Rochester. Alpha Del (as it is commonly referred to as here) has a house on the fraternity quad, and still maintains its literary roots by holding literary competitions and Lit events.  [Edit]

Grassroots Environmental Club club  Our Mission:

Grassroots' mission is to educate and enlighten the student body of the University of Rochester about the multiple environmental concerns facing our planet today. We hope to show through our diverse campaigns and projects how members of the university community can "think globally, act locally." We serve as a resource to the University and the surrounding area for information on environmental issues. We want to help instill a sense of pride in the campus and its surroundings as well as invoke a sense of responsibility for the earth.

Thelion Society club  The Thelion Society is the University of Rochester's quizbowl club. If you're unfamiliar with what quizbowl is, it's a trivia game played by teams of four players (sort of like Jeopardy! with teams). We travel all over the northeast playing in tournaments against other colleges, and also host a couple of tournaments for both colleges and high schools here at the U of R. In tournaments, our top team usually does very well, generally finishing in the top three. At two national championships this year, we finished 5th and 7th in the country. We welcome anyone who is interested in trivia, and you don't have to be great to play with us; we have many members who aren't very good but stick around because they like the people in the club. So, feel free to check us out if you come to the U of R.  [Edit]
