The
ninth annual Summer Institute for Future Teachers (SIFT), a residential
program for thirty rising high school juniors and seniors in
teaching for the 21st century, is planned for July 4
– 22, 2005 at Eastern Connecticut State University. Funded
by a Connecticut State Department of Education grant to Eastern
Connecticut State University and the Capitol Region Education Council, this
program is free except for an application and materials fee
for Connecticut residents. Activities include observations and participation in
regional summer school programs, an undergraduate course earning 3 college
credits on teaching, and field trips to museums and other
educational institutions. Program Cost: $150 - applications and materials fee

fourth annual Institute for Future Teachers using Technology (IFTUT), planned
for June 26 – July 1, 2005, is a one-week
workshop on the applications of educational technology in classrooms for
rising high school juniors and seniors. Funded by a
Connecticut State Department of Education grant to Eastern Connecticut State
University and the Capitol Region Education Council, this program is
free except for an application and materials fee for Connecticut
residents. Activities include participation in a survey course on
media and computer applications in education and development
of a collaborative project within an undergraduate course earning 1
college credit on educational technology applications in teaching. Program Cost: $150 application and materials fee
