The
Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University runs the Honors
Summer Institute at FAU's Jupiter campus. The three-week program brings
together high-achieving 10th and 11th graders with the resources and
outstanding faculty of the Wilkes Honors College at FAU and
researchers from the world-renowned Scripps Research Institute's Florida campus. The theme
for Summer 2006 is Science, Technology, and Society. Students
will take one of three honors courses taught by distinguished
faculty, in a small class setting, and receive 3 college
credits. We offer a course in the sciences on biotechnology,
a course in the humanities on bioethics, and a course
in the social sciences on evolution, psychology, and human nature.
Students will also tour the Scripps research facilities on the
Jupiter campus and participate in afternoon lecture and discussion sections
led by Scripps scientists as well as many other activities.
This
is an extraordinary opportunity for talented students to earn college
credit, experience college residential life, and interact with leading faculty
and scientists conducting state of the art research.
