The University of Miami is a unique school and I feel that is what makes it special. The student population is very diverse and that allows students to interact and get to know people from differetn backgrounds with differnt points of view. I don't feel I would have gotten that kind of exposure to different peopleand opinions had I attended a state school or any school in my home state. There are many opportunities for students to get involved on campus in different organizations. There is something for everyone such as volunteering, student government, and intramural sports. The university also offers student groups that focus on different nationalities and backgrounds which I feel is very important for the students of a diverse campus to understand each other.Miami also has many resources for students to get involved in research, find advising, or just get help in academics. Sometimes it seems like these resources may be a little hard to find, but a little effort on the part of the student can make a world of difference. It is not the universities duty to prvide everything on a silverplatter. On and off campus life are great especially with the city of Miami so close. The school provides off campus shuttle service to the nearby mall and grocery store, and also a popular night life hang out on Saturdays. Living on campus provides the opportunity to meet new students, and the opportunity to get to know Miami through various outings to the surrounding attractions.Sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice coming to Miami, but I really think that I did. I have learned more about myself and others here than I think I could have at any other school. I was raised in the midwest, but I grew up and found out who I am at the University of Miami.
