When I decided to attend Caltech, I expected to be challenged, but I was still in for an unpleasant surprise. Most of the professors seem to assume their students already know everything, so the material ends up way above the level of corresponding courses at other top universities. I've heard students say that they liked math and science before coming to Caltech, but not anymore. The attractive campus and pleasant weather make things a little better. Only choose Caltech if you are really, really, REALLY passionate about math and science, and if you don't mind being overwhelmed. ("Overwhelmed" is an understatement here.)
