Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
High Point University is average to below average. The place is great for a well off student or a student who wants to look good by getting a scholarship. Close to 83% of the student populace has a form of a Presidential Scholarship. It's a relatively expensive school for relatively slow people. If you have money and want a degree it takes minimal effort to achieve the grade here. The school needs some work when it comes to parking and dormitories. The parking is minimal currently, though it is noted that the university is in the middle of some construction on a new fine arts building. Many of the students are recieving tickets for parking in areas not designated for parking. Parking is simply becoming hard to find. When first arriving to High Point there were many rooms that had three people crammed in. Some rooms were without beds and simply had matrices on the floor for the first month. It was said that at the beginning of the year the school stuck approximately seventeen freshman boys in the basement of the apartment dormitories. Some have been moved out, but I haven't heard anything since.Maintenance is definately a problem. Some of the dormitories are literally falling apart. In my dorm (North Dormitory) my cielling is caving in. I've called maintenance three times and they keep saying that they'll patch up the cielling over break. There is also a large ant problem that has yet to remedied. I've called twice about that. The bathrooms are revolting. At the beginning of the year only 2 of the 5 or so tiolets were even working on a floor of about 20. Of the three showers, one is clogged, one has tiles falling in, and the other only drips water from the shower head. The bathtub is unoperational. Maintenance is definately in demand here. If the school does not start concerning itself with the comfort of the students, they are going to have no use for the new educational buildings planned. No residential student wants to stay in an overcrowded dorm that is literally falling apart on top of them.
