MU is great for Journalism-that's the big draw for out-of-staters. It's a good public school, but it has all the public school drawbacks (red tape, 300 people in lower level classes). It's the most expensive public school in the Big 12, and tuition is supposedly going up due to the state budget cuts. The Financial Aid office is very helpful and fairly generous with scholarships and grants. Some of the students are friendly, but I've come across snotty ones too. The Greek system is very active and fun, but there are definitely opportunities to be social without being Greek if you have the initiative. School spirit is huge. It came down to Truman and MU for me, and I just couldn't take the town Truman's in. I heard before I came here that a lot of kids come here but a lot don't graduate because it's easy to get lost in the crowd. MU is what you put into it.
