Santa Clara is an excellent school, but for a specific type of student. The perfect Santa Clara student is someone who wants a college that closely resembles a private high school. It's small and you know basically everyone (at least by face), your classes are small, gossip is rampant, cliques are the norm, and the faculty and the administration are very touchy-feely. There are numerous opportunities to get involved, but almost all revolve around community service - faith based work. The only sport that anyone gives a darn about it women's soccer, and that's only because we're number one in the nation (And, if you're like me, you're thinking: who gives a darn about women's soccer?). Now I'm getting into what I consider to be the drawbacks. If you want school spirit, this is NOT the place for you. If you love politics, please know that while almost all students would identify themselves as right wing conservatives, their political involvement generally extends no further than the ballot box for national elections. I am leaving in the fall for specifically that reason. I could go on for some time, but will stop there. Let me just reiforce the idea that Santa Clara provides students with a simmilar experience as most private high schools (namely Catholic). If that's not what you're looking for, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
