Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I thought that UAH would be a good place for me to get a degree in Engineering. The personal tour really impressed me, along with the student representatives. The school is calm and easygoing, and not very busy at all. There is almost no social life on campus, unless you are a Greek. Most students are commuters who are either professionals attending afternoon/night school or freshmen from the area who plan on transferring to Auburn/Tuscaloosa/Big School after 1 or 2 years. The sport teams are good here, although few attend the games. Sadly, no football team - UAH has a hockey team that consists of 20 Canadians and 1 American (the coach's son). Remember, this is still Alabama. If you wish to graduate with a competitive GPA, DO NOT ATTEND UAH. This school is too tough, and its name is not recognizable. The liberal arts department is VERY politically liberal, unlike the rest of the university. Many professors are proud socialists. Avoid taking classes in the lib. arts dept. if you disagree with this ideology. On a few positive notes, there are many great job opportunities for students in the Huntsville area. Tuition and housing expenses are relatively low. The Greek system is small but very strong.Overall, I WOULD NOT recommend UAH to an out of state recent high school graduate. I would only recommend UAH to a commuter student (to attend for a year or two) or a "non-traditional" student wishing to finish a degree.
