Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
USD is a great school, especially if you're a business major. The quality of the education is great and the professors are generally very accessible. I came here expecting it to be easy considering I got into many more prestigious schools, but its not easy at all. Some of the teachers are so smart it will blow your mind. Theyre also pretty cool and a lot of them like to hang out with their students. Dont be suprised if you get invited to parties at your professors' houses from time to time. You just have to be cool to them and they'll treat you with a lot of respect and relate to you as a peer rather than talking down to you.As a lot of people know, the campus is totally beautiful, probably the nicest Ive ever seen. Moreover, the city of San Diego is probably one of the best places to live in the world due to the fantastic weather and the many different things to do. The location of USD is unique because you can be in any part of San Diego within 15 minutes. After their freshman year, a lot of students choose to move off campus and spread out throughout local communities. Some of the most popular are Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and Mission Valley. However, if you're going to go to USD, you should be prepared for a few things. First, this is a RICH school. You'll meet people who are obsenely wealthy on a daily basis. You'll meet the sons and daughters of the CEOs of companies that are household names , and occasionaly a prince or princess of some obscure third world country. Generally these people are pretty nice, but there is definately a fair amount of snobs. Basically its like a lot of nice private colleges, but because Southern California has a lot of very upscale communities, its more noticable than in other areas. The cool thing about this is that you get to meet some pretty influential people and you can network if you have the right state of mind.Second, you should probably know is that San Diego in general and USD in particular is home to a lot of beautiful people and people do care a lot about how they look. When there's a new trend on the runways in Paris, Milan or New York, you'll know because all of a sudden you'll see a bunch of people wearing the same thing. It doesnt bother most people, but for some reason its a big turnoff for some people.Third, the USD student population, in general, is not that politically active. USD kind of exists in its own bubble seperate from the rest of the world. If youre a political activist, Im not saying you shouldnt come here, but you should know that youre not going to find that many people like you. Most of the professors are fairly liberal, but in general the students lean to the right.None of these issues are that big of a deal to most people, but you should at least be aware.
