I
received a very good undergraduate education and social experince at
SUNY Brockport. I had two outstanding professors, that when I
look back have to give credit to for my career
acheivements - Dr. Tedrick and Dr. Rakov. Involvement
in athletics and club activities I believe were also important
in my overall positive experiences. Partipation in extracurricular activities
as well as a focus on academics offers skills in
team work, leadership, communication, crisis resolution, that you may not
get from a textbook. Get involved with student life
activities. And if I had to do it over
again I would access my Student Advisor more often, take
advantage of a mentor, look into opportunities offered through Career
Services, and get involved with a study group. I
would reccommend that new students not be afraid to 'Ask
questions and learn more - party less but still have
a great time. Make lots of friends and stay
in touch- it's one of the best things I appreciate
most,my SUNY friends who have stayed in touch, especially since
we've lost two good friends since graduation. Be active in
community activities and volunteer for a cause. There are
so many things you can learn outside of the classroom
by giving your time.
