Major: Music Education (This Major's Salary over time)
RED TAPE. That is OSU summed up inot two words. Let me repeat. RED TAPE. Keep that in mind in case you ever want to do anything here. I recently switched from more than a few years in music ed to a different major and I am so much happier now. The music dept is going downhill fast—performance expectations are lowered each year, you don't get much practical experience in teaching music (just a lot of "theory" from professors who taught for one year 25 years ago), and many music students are fun yet not too bright. I am now in the Honors program here which is awesome and I really enjoy it. Please don't be jaded like me, go to a music school where people practice and actually WANT to be there, instead of Slacker U (aka OSU). The School of Music is all politics. Stay out of "the lobby" if you want to get good grades, and watch out. It can be weird out there. PS—The marching band IS really awesome, I highly recommend it to anyone…but don't make it your unofficial major by living/breathing/eating/sleeping OSUMB, that gets to be really annoying. :-D
