Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
I am former graduate student who left Lehigh. I was enrolled in a Ph.D. program in the Chemistry Department. Lehigh is geared toward undergraduates, and gives undergraduates a high quality education. Unfortunately, its graduate programs are not so hot. At least in the Chemistry Department, clear direction about a person progress is not provided. There are courses listed in the catalog that have not taught in years. The professors do not teach very well. There is a real sense in the Chemistry Department that professors do not want to be bothered with graduate education, especially the Ph.D. program. Ph.D. candidates are strong persuated to just get their Masters' degree and then leave. It's hard to find a good advisor to work under, especially if you want a Ph.D.On the positive side, there is a lot of funding, and TAs are treated very well. Because of the school's commitment to undergrads, they create a very individualized relationship between TA and students, where a TA will only teach a small number of students. As a TA, I was well paid, and I was not overworked (only 10-20 hours per week). However, since being a TA is only a means to an end, don't enroll in Lehigh's graduate chemistry programs.
