It's a tuition-free school, and the joke around the school is
You get what you pay for, it's a great value.
Not entirely, correct, but they have a point. The academics are very rigorous, a lot of hours, and it's all math, science, and engineering courses. If you can succeed at Cooper Union, you can do anything. However, if you don't like engineering, you will hate it.

There are twice as many guys as girls. Theoretically, it would be a good thing, you'd thinks so, right? Well, not really. The lack of a campus or a social life is glaring here. Dormitory housing is provided only for 1-st year students.

All that said, I love Cooper Union. Surely, sometimes I wish I'd gone to a real school, with a campus, a gym, a swimming pool, a good athletics program, student lounges, and frat parties. But on the other hand, Cooper Union is located in the heart of New York City, in East Village, probably the coolest neighborhood in the world, with an abundance of bars, lounges, theatres, museums (well, not in the Village). Unfortunately it's hard to find like-minded students at Cooper.

Hmm, I really wanted to say some good things about Cooper. Did I mention, it's free? The education is very good; there are extracurricular activities, if you know to look for them. Administration is very friendly and helpful. A great job post-graduation is practically guaranteed. Cooper alums are a great connection to have. The biggest problem with Cooper is its financial situation.
