Alright, so Gettysburg is a pretty cool place educationally. The college just built a new multi-million dollar science center which has everyone stoked. Having previously attended a supposedly more prestigious school before coming here, I think I can say with some certainty that the academics here are much more difficult than others may think. I think Gettysburg is really trying to become a science powerhouse, and, IMHO, it's really getting there. I'd like to see more student research from freshman year on, and hopefully, with the new science center, the college will be able to do that.Socially, well, the atmosphere is sorta changing right now. I mean previously, the students here were rich, white, and private-boarding-school educated. Now, the college has been working on admitting students of varying cultures and economic backgrounds (yeah for me!). Although this has helped engender a rather small, yet lively academic group or atmosphere, the college still has a ways to go before this atmosphere spreads. They're on the right track though. Generally speaking though, as a student concerned primarily with academics, etc., I find the social life here alright. Gettysburg isn't a big city, but there always seems to be things for students to do other than simply going to a frat party.
