I attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn because I didn't have the credentials to go to the Ann Arbor campus out of high school.I guess since I always had that goal in mind, I never really gave that much though to U of M-D. But I'm glad I spent my years there before I transferred.Faculty accessibility is the greatest strength of this campus. There are some very good people who teach here. I guess by virtue of being a smaller campus (8,000) that kind of interaction is possible. I had a good experience with faculty here. The coursework is pretty challenging, although some of the classes leave a lot to be desired. Particularly Intro psychology. Note to professor: NEEDS TO BE JUST A TAD MORE CHALLENGING!!A lot of the students that I met were somewhat serious about their coursework, but no too many. You have a really diverse group of people that go to this school. A lot of older students. Those are the positives of the Dearborn campus. There are a lot of negatives though. For one, there is no social life possibility here. Everyone commutes and works part time jobs off campus. So basically everyone comes to school, doesn't really interact or talk, and goes home. Pretty lame. It's the biggest drawback of the school. At times it was pretty unbearable. The school also doesn't have a lot of resources. It has one good computer lab and that's about it. The library is an okay place to study, but often is too noisy with people talking on their cell phones. I would recommend this school to someone who didn't get into the first college of their choice out of high school. The teaches are really good, and you'll learn a lot. But ultimately, I wouldn't recommend going all four years here. Do good in your classes here and try to transfer to another school.
