Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
What happened last night on the campus (the shooting and hostage situation) could happen any day of the year. The school borders the worst part of town, and there are crazies wandering around mumbling to themselves as they walk by everyday—and that's usually the campus security guys! If you make it through here without something happening to you or your friends (a mugging, purse snatching, carjacking), consider yourself fortunate. Television people last night totally avoided being critical of the area—because it's too non-p.c. to talk about the blighted area inhabited by street people and nut balls. Dorms are stacked one by one, with plenty of blind areas between them where perps can wait. Many of the campus buildings are beautiful (and the Lewis building is, from ground level), but students have to navigate nasty areas to and from classes. Go out at night alone, and you are rolling the dice—how does that make for a college experience?
