Alrighty. I was in the military (marine corps) and stationed overseas in Okinawa for many years. I attended UMUC mainly because it was the only school there. While there, I loved the program. The faculty was nice, the classes were challenging, and most importantly, the military paid my tuition. Okinawa was beautiful, and I had a great time.

I later was stationed in Quantico VA. Wow did things change. The main campus treated me like a bother to them and they had no idea on how to help me. Luckily, the regional staff (UMUC personnel at military sites) were able to help me out. They knew how the overseas programs worked, and I finished my last few classes online before graduating.

All in all, I loved UMUC, but you should really only go there for several reasons:

1. You live in MD and are unable to afford UMCP.

2. You are in the military and you were a student going there overseas. Just finish up in the DC metro area.

3. You have a lot of free time and can make the drives to College Park to handle your business. If you are a civilian and can't get into a military base, this is your only way to seek help.

4. You're a UMCP student who wants to take classes at night with UMUC. UMUC is basically the UMCP night school.

UMUC is a great school though. If you are in the service and will be going to Asia or Europe, don't worry, you can go to school there forever.

Oh, and one more thing, I know that UMUC isn't the terps, but for God's sake you UMCP have to get over yourselves. If a UMUC student makes reference to, supports, criticizes, or even mention the terps, UMCP students go nuts. They all feel that the terps are their's so bug off. Look, all of the tuition collected from the University System of MD goes into that damn sports program OK! trust me, I work for the state now. Thus, the Terps belong to UMCP, UMES, UMBC, UMB, and UMUC! Also, it can also be considered part of Bowie too since they're part of the system too!

Get over it UMCP!
