Date: Jul 22 2003 Major: English (This Major's Salary over time) all in all, i can't say graduating from ucla has hurt me. the professors there were suprisingly helpful, three of them wrote outstanding recomendations for me, over 2 years since i finished classes there, that must have played a huge part in my admission this year to top schools like Chicago & Michigan. Though the campus may seem impersonal while you're there, there are plenty of opportunities to engage, both socially and academically, and make an impression that you might not realize matters til much later.though the student body is not, in the main, passionately "intellectual," the classes are on a quarter system and are not designed for idiots. i transferred from a cc where it was too easy to slack while maintaining a high gpa, and i was not prepared for what i walked into at ucla.ucla is a great school if you know how to put the work in, and where it stops. it is not as popular as it is because the students who go there want to talk about academics all the time. there are students there who are into that, but most of them would rather not talk about academics when they don't have to be doing it.
