This is Dartmouth College, the college on the hill, in the woods, in the forrest, and it's amazing. I was accepted to many other Ivies, but after coming to Dartmouth, I was sold. No noisy city, no snotty rich kids, just down to Earth people. Sure, you have your wacko liberals and facist conservatives, but everything exists inside the bubble of Dartmouth: it's simply a world of its own.

What you should know is that while the fraternity/sorority scene is prominent, it's by no means the only thing to do. Many a night I've been at a party, while equally as many a night I've been watching movies with friends. The one thing about Dartmouth is that you never go out without seeing at least 3 people you know, always saying a cheerful "Hello," even if it is from under 5 layers of clothing.

Oh yeah, it gets cold. Really cold. I'm from South Texas, and I was in for the shock of my life…but then again, I loved the weather. Living in the heat so long, I flourished in the cold. I enjoyed bundling up and running to class as fast as I possibly could. But that's just me, I'd guess…

All in all, Dartmouth is amazing. You may not get the name recognition from the masses as you do from HYP, but if you're looking for name recognition, stay away from Dartmouth. We have a fanatical base of alums that are always willing to go the extra mile to help you out, in and out of college. While the Board of Trustees and President may anger the student body at times, as long as the alums are around, nothing psychotic is going to happen. Look at the incident where the administration tried to cut the swimming and diving teams…the students rallied, the alums screamed, and lo and behold, the administration snapped into place.

Could you possibly tell me how likely it is that I will get in to this school? I'm a high school freshman, am taking all the highest level courses for my year, am in Biology and Algebra II, and am 7th in a class of 402.
