Date: Aug 27 2003 Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time) It's not so important on the specific major that you concentrate on, but on getting a well rounded education and achieving good grades. Get a good foundation in math, history, science and literature. Take a few business classes to understand how to manage your finances. I only worked in my major for a year after graduation, but decided I didn't want to constantly move to remain employed in the theatre. So, I switched into computer programming and have been doing it ever since. Many of the basic skills in organization, planning, commitment and dedication that I learned at UWM have been the biggest help to me in my career. You are constantly learning new things beyond your college years. Except for majors such as medicine and law, knowing how to manage your life and job is more important than knowing the specifics in your major. I do miss working in the theatre, but I find I'm using a lot of those skills helping my children and their schools to bring up future Fine Arts majors.
