The reason I came to this school was affordability and the fact that the core curriculum was reasonable. The core doesn't bogg you down with loads of classes like some universities and yet it is still solid. Other pluses are small classes sizes and teacher responsiveness. Also, the university campus is layed out well, so its easy to get where you need to go. The lack of bureaucracy is another bonus. I've been to larger schools where getting paperwork done was a nightmare - here it wasn't as bad. My only gripes are: it is hard to make friends here (but that may be because I transferred in late), and the liberal arts courses are not diverse enough, culturally. But overall, this is a good school - the only reason I selected "yes" to the question which asked: if given the chance would you have gone to a different school, is that if I could have afforded it - I would have gone to the University of Chicago or Illinois - mainly because I like Chicago - not because OU is weak academically.
