The words Guilford College and convenience do not belong in the same sentence with one another. The college is horribly unorganized and nothing can be relied upon from the horrible cafeteria food to the internet connection. Expect a student body so liberal, it is conservative. There are two groups on campus…jocks and hippies. However, the students here are very nice and friendly, just easily offended. It seems that no one takes much pride in the school, not even the administrators who do not interact with students or show even the slightest hint of concern unless money is somehow involved. The President lives 20 ft from my current dorm and I have hardly seen him. He never chats with students, so his infrequent appearances are always formal at a rare school event. There is nothing to do on campus. Speakers are rare, movies are rare, dances are rare and anything else that might be of convenience to students is either rare or obsolete. A majority of upper-classmen live off campus to avoid the high cost of living that is hardly worth the price. The bus system is horrible and the college provides absolutely no transportation for students…even to the airport for holiday breaks. At Guilford, there are no luxuries unless slimy mashed potatoes, stringy meat, and mushy vegetables suit your fancy. I think Guilford would not be so insufferable if they were at least trying to improve campus life.
