There should have been less "ivory tower" education and more "real life" experience—internships, etc. I should not have expected the school to help me find employment after I graduated, and I should not have listened to their "ivory tower" presentations of what a position should be like. I wish I had been more assertive/aggressive about marketing myself, and I wish the university had provided more training in doing that—we had one seminar for a few hours which mostly covered writing resumes.
