Grinnell is a great college if you want a small LAC with a tight community, strong academics, small discussion-based classes, close contact with your professors, and good advising. There are more "mainstream" people than you would think, but it's true—most Grinnellians are liberal politically. Socially, there are parties every weekend and the college provides a lot of free events. You can play on a varsity team even if you've never played the sport before - but don't get your hopes up for a national championship. Grinnell has a lot of money - which means we have a lot of new facilities (dorms, science building, performing arts—they're building new dining hall and fitness center now), generous financial aid and merit aid, and lots of paid internships.
