I have been quite pleased with Northwestern. NWC is a small, Christian Liberal Arts school in a small town in Iowa called Orange City. Filled with European charm, Orange city consists of approximately 5,600 people who are all proud of their Dutch heritage. The town is small, however a movie theatre, coffee shop, bowling alley, and more can be found in the realm of entertainment. The school has some amazing facilities, including a recently built, regionally acclaimed 8 million dollar theatrical complex, a new art center, and a fantastic athletic center, built in 1995. I'm a student ambassador with Northwestern, in my junior year, and I have to say I am quite pleased with the value of the education for my dollar. The people are extremely friendly and outgoing, approachable, and the faculty represents some of the most brilliant people I’ve ever come in contact with. The thing that sets them apart, however, is that they continuously integrate the Christian faith into the classroom on a daily basis. I had an accounting class in which the professor read a small devotion before every class. The professors care about their students and they make it absolutely clear. If we need anything, we are often encouraged to stop by professors offices any time, even if we want to talk about something other than academics. Let me also touch on Dorm life. Each dormitory is divided up into wings with a resident assistant on every wing. This person serves as a peer leader for the students on his or her wing. The R.A's put together such activities as weekly Bible Studies and prayer groups, as well as social functions with a "brother / sister" wing program, that helps wings from different dorms get together and interact socially. The RA becomes much more than a leader, I have become great friends with my RA's and continue to stay in contact with them, even after some of them from previous years have graduated. The close knit community of young Christian people is hard to beat; walking the halls you can just tell that these are great people! I know I speak highly of the school, but I could not be any more pleased. I enjoy sharing experiences from my school, so if you have any questions, or even want to schedule a visit, email me and I can either answer your questions or direct you to someone who can help you.
