Working in advertising you can do, or you are on the streets. UAH provided a respectable, educational background to prepare an individual for the real world.

The UAH campus had its beginnings in the early 1950’s through a constant petition of Dr. Wehner Von Braun, the notable, German rocket engineer. Even though there were fine, engineering schools in the southern states such as Vandy and Georgia Tech none provided the excellence or locale that was need to support the vision of the NASA rocket program. Huntsville had grown from a southern, cotton town to becoming the designated area where the top scientists and engineers from across the nation and other parts of the world have collected to design rockets to launch man into space and land him on the moon. Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal housed both NASA and the U.S. Army Missile Command. Many of the rockets including the Saturn V and guidance missiles for the army were built in these facilities. Huntsville is one of the very, few cities in the South that has an international culture and maintained its southern heritage. UAH has become the “little MIT of the South”. Many of these Ph.D. types taught at UAH. I felt fortunate in taking some seminars under one of the old, German rocket scientist.
