As with anything be careful about what school you pick for when getting your undergraduate education. If you are a serious student, if you really want to excel you should pick a school that encourages this type of attitude. I did not feel that the UofI condoned intellectual curiosity or advancement amongst their undergraduates. Most attention was given to graduates and the general assumption about undergraduates was that they were lazy, mediocre and apathetic. Desptie how hard you may or will try to go against this grain, you will run into either surprise followed by disgust or confusion followed by a perfunctory statement of encouragement that leads you to believe that no one really cares about where you end up. I would suggest going here for graduate, but not for an undergraduate education.
