Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
The biology department is probably one of the best on campus. Professors are generally very helpful and willing to spend time with their students. However, the GE classes are in need of a makeover. GEs are not taken seriously at the school and are just a requirement for graduation. They are not challenging at all and allow for an easy A. Though core classes are important, GEs are extremely important for shaping the individual. Cal Poly lacks this and turns out less well-rounded graduates. As a student at Cal Poly, GEs are seen as the way to keep up your GPA, but in the long run, you'll leave without knowing much. I am now attending a well respected school and am VERY challenged in every class. Though at times I don't enjoy it, I can see a dramatic difference from the level of education I'm receiving.
